Richie feels pretty bad that when everything was shitty between himself and Eddie, and then Stan, that he'd kind of stopped hanging out with Bev as much too. After the railing, even though she'd said everything was still okay between them, he hadn't believed her at first. But now it's been over two months and... well, things are still pretty okay.

And the weather's nice enough that they decide to meet at the boardwalk today, mostly just to hang out. While he's waiting, Richie grabs milkshakes for the two of them, sitting on a bench to try and drink the too-thick ice cream through a straw with Bev's cup next to him.

It seems like it's going to be a pretty good day.

"Nope, you missed your chance. It's mine now," Beverly says, exaggeratedly drawing the milkshake closer to herself and out of Richie's reach. She's laughing, though, as she does, already a little more at ease than she had been when she left her apartment earlier. This normalcy is something she's been missing of late, and hanging out with Richie is a great way to distract herself from some of the shit in her head she doesn't want to be thinking about.

"God, school can't be over soon enough."

It's still over a month away, but that doesn't mean Richie hasn't been counting down the days until he can just dump the contents of his backpack in the trash. He'd make marks on the walls of his room at the Home if he didn't think he'd get yelled at for it.

"I am definitely spending the whole summer at the arcade," he says, "And with Regan. But mostly in the arcade."

"I'm shocked," Beverly deadpans, sipping a little of her milkshake through its straw. It's still a bit too thick, but she isn't entirely unsuccessful, and she stirs it a couple of times before she tries again. "I have no idea what I'm gonna do yet. But anything's got to be better than sitting in class all day, every day."

She'd probably be starting to get restless now regardless of the circumstances, the weather turning warmer and just enough school ahead of them that the end of the year still feels a long way off. Given the way this whole school year has gone, though, she's all the more eager for it to be over.

"Beach?" Richie proposes, stuffing a spoonful of milkshake in his mouth, though it's not much of an answer. He could see Bev spending a lot of time there, though. She's not gonna be spending her summer inside like Richie plans to.

"Actually I think I might get a job."

"Yeah?" Beverly asks, brow arching. "That's cool. Get some extra spending money, right?" She's looking too forward to having an actual break to do the same, though she doesn't really want to get into all of that. It isn't like the end of the school year will really change anything. It'll be one less thing to worry about, though, and for now, that's enough. The next couple of months or so will be rough, but she's used to that.
