Backdated to late July

"HOLY FUCKING SHIT!" Richie's shouting to no one as he heads back to the Home, mostly pent up excitement now that he's left Regan, and he's grinning from ear to ear for maybe the first time in weeks. The snow was gone, Regan was alive, he'd kissed her and she'd liked it.

Richie's stomach was still doing flips, and had been since they'd gone to share a slice of pizza, their hands interlinked. Now he feels like he needs to do something, but he can't focus enough to figure out what. Is Regan his girlfriend now? What the fuck does that even mean?

He took out his phone and texted the first person he could think of.

EMERGENCY CAN YOU MEET ME

So maybe it wasn't an actual emergency, but right about now, Richie didn't care much.

"Yeah?" Her smile widens in turn then. She remembers a while back, when Richie and Regan both woke up looking like adults, Regan telling her that she thought Richie was cute. Beverly never really thought much about it after that, but she guesses it must be mutual. Richie looks happy, his teasing about Eddie's mom dropped, if only for the moment, and so it's hard to be anything but happy in turn.

It's unexpected, but not in a bad way. A little strange to consider, given Richie's voices and the way he cracks jokes all the time, but maybe, in a way, that's a good thing.

"She's pretty cool. I didn't know you liked her. You know, like that."

"Yeah, only because she doesn't know better yet," Beverly says without missing a beat, though she's still grinning as she speaks, clearly teasing. Richie, for all his character voices and irreverent humor, is one of the good ones, the kind of friend with whom she'd trust her life. Fuzzy as some of the details might be now, she knows they wouldn't have all made it through that last summer without each other, and that she wouldn't have made it out of the cistern if the others hadn't come for her.

"That's great. Just don't fuck it up." Brow raising, she adds, "So you were gonna ask about kissing?"
